No news yet

In case you were curious, I'm still pregnant. Other than being tired and generally uncomfortable, I'm fine. Well, my brain's not working quite normally, either, but I try to chalk that up to the tiredness. I think I can manage to post a few photos, though.
First, here's a recent family photo from Alex & Laura's wedding.

Then here's Finn showing off his ISU-Cyclone-inspired bathtub art.

In Finn-language, colors are "red," "orna," "lellow," "geen," and "blue." Or maybe "bue." And then there's "back." I forget exactly how he says brown, but it's pretty close, and brown and "orna" are his current favorite colors. He has one shirt that's both orange AND brown, and wearing it with his orange shoes makes him very happy. He seems to be suffering from red-lellow color-blindness for the time being, but those are the only two he really mixes up. And as I think Jonathan noted before, he LOVES to point out "GEEN!" lights as we drive around town. Apparently that's hilarious. It certainly keeps me entertained while I'm driving.

P.S. I guess we don't have anything purple in the house, because it never comes up...

We have matching shoes.

Today Finn and I took our first decent walk since I sprained my ankle. We hit the bakery (fresh bread, yay!), the park, the library (three books, yay!) the hardware store (stepstool that allows Finn to use the kitchen sink - so far, a mixed blessing). We were hindered by the fact that my hips and back have fully caught on that I am REALLY REALLY pregnant, but helped by the fact that we now have matching shoes, which makes us super awesome.
Saturday night we went to Alan and Margaret's wedding celebration. Finn got a haircut and some new duds for the occasion, so he looked pretty snazzy, and he had an absolutely wonderful time. Haircuts always make him look so much older.
He loved having Grandpa Jon here for the weekend, too, but apparently we didn't get any pictures of them together. He says "Grandpa" something like "Banta," and was very confused to see Banta at our house at first, and was NOT happy a couple days later when Banta got out of the car to go get on the plane.

That's about all our news, except that Jonathan had a pretty horrible flu on Sunday, and we've pretty much settled on a name for Finn's little brother. Any guesses? More pictures at Flickr.

Our growing family

Remember how we're having another baby? That's only about three months away now (late-September-ish), which suddenly seems REALLY SOON in lots of ways. I can definitely tell that my innards are not all where they are supposed to be, and that I'm warmer than usual (I'm not even cold at work), and that I have a little more trouble catching my breath. The last two are great, by the way, when it's already 95 degrees out and you've had a cold (or sinus infection, or something) for about 4 weeks (last Thursday and 3 weeks ago were the low points; I'm breathing better this week and can once again climb stairs, and hope I'll be 100% soon). I also get kicked a lot, which is still fun and not painful, and we're going to start thinking about names any day now. Maybe next week.
Since someone else will eventually be using Finn's crib, we got him a big boy bed last weekend, hopefully early enough that we'll have plenty of time for him to make the transition. We put it up in his room yesterday, and so far he's a BIG fan. He likes to climb on it, and lie down and pretend snore, and point out all the animals on the blanket: monkey! fish! elephant! unintelligible jabbering! (In the photos, please also note his new dinosaur pajama shirt, which he would wear all day every day, if allowed.)
Generally speaking, Finn's a great napper these days. He goes down reliably, at a predictable time, sleeps for 1-2 hours, and is pretty okay when he wakes up, especially if you have a glass of milk waiting. And maybe a graham cracker. And a dinosaur book. And patience for dirty looks. But he's still more likely to sleep longer if he sees someone in the room with him when he comes half awake, so the best thing for now about the new bed in his room is that I get to take naps when he does now, instead of just hanging out in there and reading. I'm psyched.

Big News

Hey, guess what! I'm due September 23. See that extended foot? That's mid-kick. He or she was very active during this ultrasound, and I think I'm in for another exciting third trimester once those are big enough to feel. So far, so good, though; other than some tiredness, I've been feeling just fine. No nausea or any of that good stuff.

Finn, of course, has no idea. He also didn't know it was St. Patrick's Day yesterday, and we didn't get any good St. Patty's photos this year, but here he is EATING green: some asparagus.
I know it looks like he doesn't like it, but seriously, he scarfed down the whole spear in about 10 seconds.
And Jonathan has video of him showing off some of his words that he's going to post as soon as he figures out how to open/edit it on his Mac. So stay tuned!
